Semi streamlining was carried on No 5005 from 1935 - 1940, at Leamington Spa in complete and original condition. It was removed in stages. First to go was the streamlining over the cylinders and frame-front, as well as the fairing over the tender which lasted only 5 months. This was because of the hindered access to the motion for lubrication. The bullet nose was last to go and remained in place until 1940.
