Nearing the end of her working life here at Oxford in August of 1964 " Dunster Castle " was to be withdrawn within a week or so of this picture , having her cabside number plates removed whilst on Gloucester's Horton Road shed a few days later on 4th. September , before moving for the last time that same day under her own steam from that location to a holding siding prior to spending five months at Gloucester Barnwood shed .
Barnwood shed , already closed , was used as a storage facility for condemned locomotives before they were towed as " dead " engines to their respective fates at the South Wales yards .
