Ex-Great Western Railway Collett 'Castle' class 4-6-0 No. 5047 'Earl of Dartmouth'. Built at Swindon in April 1936 and withdrawn in September 1962.

This is an uncharacteristically quiet 1950s scene at Paddington with just the fireman atop the tender and a porter strolling along in the distance to indicate human activity! The peerage title 'Earl of Darmouth' has been held by the Legge family since the 16th century.
