6010 1961-08-16 London Paddington
Peter Kerslake says "Displaced from the West Country after a lifetime spent at Laira 6010, "King Charles I" was despatched to Old Oak Common in April 1959. This is a return working back to Paddington on the Up CCE, Old Oak having sent the engine down to Wolverhampton on an earlier duty. 6010 was destined to be withdrawn in June 1962, as remaining work for the class diminished.
This "King" never had replacement front frames and new inside cylinders as not all the class did, and the original style of inside valve spindle covers, fitted to the early members of the class from new and as seen here confirm that as being so."
