6010 1961-05-07 Banbury

Transferred away from its previous home at Laira in April 1959 and thereby ending thirty years as a Westcountry based member of the class, 6010 was reallocated to Old Oak Common as suitable work on the West of England expresses was taken over by the newly introduced Diesels.
My records show that 6010 certainly was at Banbury Workshops from the day before the date of this picture until the 1st. of June, 1961.
Having undergone a Heavy General overhaul at Swindon Works just seven months earlier I suspect that 6010 had failed on an express working in the Banbury area and had been put on to Banbury shed, as seen here, before being repaired.
there's a " Not to be Moved " board in position, and 6010 still has the Reporting Number of its last working in place as well.
