6016 1950s Plymouth

A Paddington train waits to leave Plymouth North Rd Station in the late 1950s, next stop Exeter. At the head is ‘King’ No 6016 ‘King Edward V’ which had been fitted with a double chimney in January 1958. Unimpressive firing control has necessitated opening the firehole door to reduce water loss and cool things down - and yet the blower seems to be open - what is going on?.

Final withdrawal from service for No 6016 came in September 1962.
