844 1936-08-07 Shrewsbury

Ex-Cambrian Railway 'Large Belpaire Goods' class 0-6-0 No. 844. Built by Robert Stephenson & Co. of Newcastle in Oct. 1918 as CR No.15 and withdrawn in August 1954 as BR No. 844. The magnificent signal box at Shrewsbury provides the fine backdrop to the arrival of 844 in August 1937. It was the final former Cambrian Railways locomotive to survive, not being withdrawn by BR until 1954 and had been in demand for enthusiast specials in its final days.
