900 1935-06-02 Swindon Works
Ex-Cambrian Railways '1' class 0-6-0 No. 900. Built by Sharp Stewart & Co. of Glasgow in August 1864 as Cambrian Railways No. 45 and withdrawn in September 1945. One of the more remarkable rebuilds by Swindon was to renovate this 1864 built Cambrian Railways 0-6-0. Indeed, it served for over 80 years, continuing in service for another ten years after this view at Swindon Works in June 1935. Apart from a few Swindon embellishments (they just HAD to add a safety valve bonnet!), it is much as originally built and is still coupled to a 'Swindonised' Cambrian tender.
