92205 1962c Weymouth shed
Peter Kerslake says "Standard 92005 is off her usual Somerset and Dorset haunts in this 1962 photograph, having got down to Weymouth, the engine being one of the three of her class allocatd to Bath Green Park depot in June of 1960 following successsful trials with 92204 three months earlier, the intention being that use of the "9F's " would help reduce the then current high levels of double heading over the S . & D . , especially on busy Summer Saturdays.
Originally allocated by the Western Region to its Ebbw Vale depot from newly built at Crewe in 1954 this engine, together with her sisters in the initial batch had been intended to work the heavy Welsh iron ore traffic but they were disliked by the footplatemen at Ebbw Vale who found fault with their regulators and braking systems, the locomotives accordingly later being transferred away to such locations as Bristol following a period laid up and out of use at Ebbw Vale."
