92205 1960s Burlescombe

92205 1960s Burlescombe

Up train, (with carriage boards), approaching White Ball Tunnel at Burlescombe, between Tiverton Junction and Taunton. Eastbrook House visible above loco. The bridge still has the same metal side girders in 2017. 92205 , in company with 92203 , 92204 and 92206 , were allocated to Bath Motive Power Depot or the 1960 Summer Services , following earlier trials with 92204 conducted in the March of that year. I am not sure how long they remained on the Somerset and Dorset , but others of the class joined them for the 1962 summer workings , the expectations being that the Standards would help to reduce the high levels of Double Heading on the steeply graded line across the Mendips . Through passenger workings were routed away from Somerset and Dorset metals at the end of the 1962 Summer timetable , thus bringing to an end the use of the Standards on those rosters acoss the Mendips , apart from their use on a few local stopping turns during 1963.
