92203 1962 Swindon

Great front end detail of what will become Black Prince when preserved.

Peter Kerslake says "Displaying her Banbury 84C shedplate here in Swindon M.P.D.'s Running Shed and dated 1962 this record of 92203 will doubtless be after the locomotive had enjoyed a spell working from Bath Depot over the Somerset and Dorset line down to Bournemouth in company with sister engines 92205 and 92206.
Successful evaluation of 92204 from late March of 1960 had shown the Standard "9F's" to be well able to assist with operations on the "S & D" with a particular aim of reducing Double Headed workings, especially during the Summer Saturdays and this was mainly achieved save and except for a few such heavily loaded long distance Saturday holiday workings.
With the demise of the line in 1962 it all came to an end and the Standards were then returned to their former haunts."
