92220 1963-08 near Newport
A Thumbs Up for our cameraman from the fireman as his 92220 Evening Star appears to have found itself back on South Wales ground in this August 1963 photograph , the engine depicting its fully lined out green livery , applied by Swindon Works from new in March of 1960 , the only member of the class to be so treated . Following transfer from Cardiff Canton in September of the previous year 92220 worked the heavy passenger turns over the Somerset and Dorset line from Bath , including the final Southbound run on the 8th . September that year but was then relegated to working local stopping services before before a subsequent transfer to Cardiff East Dock, her old home at Canton having by then been closed to steam in September of 1962 .
