92079 1960s Bromsgrove

92079 1960s Bromsgrove

Bromsgrove South engine siding had a manual coaling stage and the engines were prepared in strict order to ensure all the fireman did the same amount of work. The 9F and two out of the three panniers nearest the camera have built up plenty of steam ready for their next bout of banking. A fourth one waits in the distance about to cross over to start its next stint of work. No.92079 had been built with a BR 1C tender with high curved top sidesheets but this was exchanged in May 1956 when it was transferred to Bromsgrove, for the BR 1G type shown that gave better visibility when running tender first back down to Bromsgrove.
