Les Hanson's photography was in its infancy in October 1931. One of his earliest photographs captures ex-Midland Railway Johnson '4P' class 3-cyl. compounds No. 1034 as it speeds through Wellingborough in Northamptonshire with a milk train.

1034 was built at Derby in Dec. 1906 as MR No. 1029, re-numbered 1034 in 1907 and withdrawn in Apr. 1950 as BR No. 41034.
