LMS Fowler '4P Compound' class 4-4-0 (pilot). Built at Derby in Nov. 1925 as LMS No. 1108 and withdrawn in Jan. 1957 as BR No. 41108. Unidentified LMS Stanier 'Coronation' class 4-6-2 (train). This photograph was taken on ex-RAF stock, the only film available post-WW2. It might be blotchy and grainy, but it was better than no film at all! At least it enabled incredibly unusual scenes like this one from July 1947 at Blisworth in Northants. to be captured. Filthy 'Compound' 1107 is piloting an even filthier 'Coronation' Pacific - but a new dawn is coming! The only 'Coronations' still stremlined and in traffic on this date were 6226, 6229, 6236, and 6243
