An unidentified ex-L&YR Hughes '31' class 0-8-0 plods past a superb set of ex-LN&WR signals at Skew Bridge, Preston in 1923.

The L&Y had been merged with the L&NWR in 1922 prior to the 1923 grouping, hence the appearance of this locomotive at a location where an ex-L&NWR 'Super D' might have been the expected motive power!
