A rare picture of the Blackrod-Horwich motor train at work taken in August 1947. Ex-L&YR No 10617 was the final rail motor active in the UK at the time and would be withdrawn from service by the LMS in a few weeks time. The train, locally known as ‘the jerk’, appears to be carrying a single passenger.
