The last surviving railmotor service in the UK: No 10617 waits at Blackrod Station to trundle the 1.4 miles to Horwich on 9th August 1947. Not many more times would this be happening as No 10617 was withdrawn by LMS on the eve of Nationalisation in December 1947. This had been the regular Horwich branch railmotor since 1911.
