Hauling the 12.0pm Minehead-Paddington via Bristol
Peter Kerslake adds "18100 worked on the Bristol main line to and from Paddington from early July until 8th September. These duties involved a twice daily return run between Paddington and Bristol, a total daily mileage of almost five hundred miles. It started with a very lightly loaded train departing Paddington at 2.25.a.m followed by a run back from Temple Meads and a further run down to Bristol and back later in the day. Not many photographs exist of either 18100 or 18000 bearing a Reporting Number starting with a 5, but this is correct for a working from Minehead. By the end of the year 18100 was effectively taken out of service following a series of failures."
