An up fitted freight heads for Southampton at Eastleigh on 9th August 1961, behind ‘Arthur’ No 30798 ‘Sir Hectimere’. This was one of the 30793 - 30806 batch built at Eastleigh with 6 wheel Ashford pattern tenders, originally for the Brighton section of the SR. Starting in 1958, eight of these were retro-fitted with Urie type 8 wheel tenders for extra water capacity and better braking when working unfitted freights.
