Ex-LMS Fowler/Stanier 'Rebuilt Royal Scot' class 4-6-0 No. 46155 'The Lancer'. Built at Derby in July 1930 as LMS No. 6155 and withdrawn in December 1964.

The north end of Preston station finds 'The Lancer' heading the down 'Lakes Express' in August 1963. Originally an LMS summer only service from Euston to a number of destinations in the north-west including Windermere, Keswick and Workington, the train was discontinued in 1965.
