Ex-LMS Stanier 'Coronation' class 4-6-2 No. 46250 'City of Lichfield'. Built at Crewe in May 1944 as LMS No. 6250 and withdrawn in October 1964.

This lovely photograph from July 1963 has 'City of Lichfield' racing north with an 1S96 coded, 12-coach relief express from Euston to Glasgow. She is seen at Broughton, some 4 miles north of Preston. The presence of an abandoned wooden wheelbarrow is a mystery!
