Ex-LNER Thompson 'B1' class 4-6-0 No. 61240 'Harry Hinchcliffe'. Built by NBL of Glasgow in November 1947 as LNER No. 1240 and withdrawn in December 1966.

Some of the lesser-known Directors of the LNER were honoured by having their names (somewhat randomly) allocated to various members of Thompson's 'B1' class. In recent times, the Gresley Society's excellent house magazine the 'Gresley Observer' has featured the interesting histories of these gentlemen. Look 'em up!
