Ex-LNER Thompson 'A2/3' class 4-6-2 No. 60512 'Steady Aim'. Built at Doncaster in August 1946 as LNER No. 512 and withdrawn in June 1965.

The divided opinions regarding Edward Thompson's Pacifics will no doubt continue to be discussed. One thing was for certain, that as a young 'spotter' they carried the most magical and unforgettable names. Their appearance heading an express at York was always a welcome event as this 1950s view of 'Steady Aim' recalls.
