The north end of York MPD would usually find a selection of motive power gatered by the adjacent turntable. To the fore in this 1961 view, is ex-LNER Thompson 'A2/3' No. 60514 'Chamossaire' in normal workaday appearance (i.e. grubby)! The racehorse after which it was named won the classic St. Leger Stakes held at Doncaster in 1945. 60514 was built at Doncaster the following year and was withdrawn in December 1962.
