62731 1950s Leeds City East

Leeds Minster can be seen above the relatively unusual combination of a 'Hunt' (train) and 'Shire' (pilot),. They are entering Leeds City Station fom the east and using the avoiding line that will not see them stop at Leeds. I can only guess that this may be a holiday express returning from the east coast. The pilot loco is No. 62731 'Selkirkshire' a 1928 Darlington built engine, withdrawn in April 1959.
