60027 1960s Musselburgh
It took some time to track down (forgive the pun) this location. It turned out to be Musselburgh in East Lothian and apart from the visually intrusive overhead catenary, relatively little has changed since this 1960s view of the down 'Elizabethan'. The smartly turned-out ex-LNER Gresley 'A4' is of course 'Merlin' with its distinctive boilerside plaque. 60027 was built at Doncaster in March 1937 (as LNER No. 4486) and was withdrawn in September 1965.
