30068 1960s Southampton Docks
Ex-Southern Railway 'S100' or 'USA' class 0-6-0 Tank No. 30068. Built by Vulcan Iron Works of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania in 1942 and withdrawn in March 1963.
The 'S100' class of locomotives were intended to meet the need for a simple, rugged shunting tank engine to be used in Europe, replacing worn out older locomotives. 342 were built and shipped to Britain, France, Yugoslavia, Greece, Holland, Austria and other countries further afield. 30068 is seen here at Southampton Docks on an unrecorded 1960s date.
