Near Minster in Kent, ex-Southern Railway Maunsell 'L1' 31758 approaches with a very lightweight 3-coach 'local', hardly a taxing load! Most 'L1s' spent their later careers between London and the Kent coast. Withdrawals began in 1959, and the final example (31786) survived until February 1962. This photograph was taken in March 1957.
