A wonderful image from the first years of the 20th Century. This is a down London Victoria to Hastings train speeding along at Tooting Bec. The pilot loco is a LB&SCR Stroudley 'G' class 2-2-2 No. 330 'Newhaven' and an unidentified Billinton 'B2' 4-4-0 is the train engine. 330 was built at Brighton in June 1881 and was withdrawn in Nov. 1908. The 'B2s' were also built at Brighton in 1895-7 but had longer lives, the last being withdrawn in Nov. 1932.
