Captured from the B3261 road bridge, Maunsell 'S15' 4-6-0 No. 30843 approaches Axminster Station in the late 1950s. The unusual extended platform that passes under the bridge can be seen on the right. 30843 was built at Eastleigh in Sept. 1936 as SR No. 843 and was withdrawn in Sept. 1964. Note the neatly tended lineside allotments on the left, H&S please have an apopleptic fit!
