60015 1956-05-26 Peterborough North

On 26th May 1956, Class A4 No 60015 ‘Quicksilver’ heads north from Peterborough with a secondary service. It was unusual to find members of this class in charge of an ordinary passenger train as shown by the single lamp above the front numberplate. The engine is looking rather grubby in view of it having been through works overhaul as recently as February 1956. It is still carrying a single chimney which was replaced with a double chimney in August 1957.
