60013 1955 Stoke Tunnel
A view taken into the sun at Stoke Tunnel shows a down express headed by No 60013 ‘Dominion of New Zealand’ coasting down the bank towards Grantham. It is summer 1955 and the A4 is still sporting a single chimney. It also carries the unique whistle presented by the New Zealand Govt Railway in 1938. This whistle had a much deeper note than the standard Crosby type fitted to other A4s.
