69119 1954 Leeds
Carrying the express passenger lamp arrangement, Ex-Hull & Barnsley Railway 0-6-2T, Class N13 No 69119 is seen at Leeds in 1954. Constructed for the H&BR to the design of Matthew Stirling by locomotive builders Hawthorn Leslie in 1914, this was the last built of ten locomotives. Initially they carried domeless boilers but in LNER days they all acquired domed boilers as seen here. The rounded cab roof, so typical of Stirling’s designs was retained to the end by them all. No 69119 was withdrawn from Neville Hill shed in June 1955 and sister engine, No 69114 also from Neville Hill when withdrawn in October 1956 was the last surviving ex-H&BR locomotive.
