A splendid early BR era photograph taken in August 1952 at Selby. Ex-North Eastern Railway 'D20' 4-4-0 No. 62384 has stopped with an eastbound Leeds to Hull buffet car express. A classic Wilson Worsdell design, the 'R' (D20) class were rightly regarded as one of the best British 4-4-0 s of the early 20th Century. 62384 was built at Gateshead in June 1907 and was withdrawn in August 1955.
