Irish railways, like their British counterparts also used 'crane tank' locomotives in and around their various works and depots. This is Great Northern Railway (Ireland) No.31 an 0-6-0 Tank capable of lifting between 4 and 8 tons as denoted on the jib positions. It is seen here at Dundalk, Co. Louth, Eire in June 1954. This fascinating 1928-built Hawthorn Leslie locomotive was sold in 1958 to Dundalk Engineering Works but was subsequently re-sold to CIE in 1960 (as No. 365A).
