Great Northern Rly. (Ireland) H. R. McIntosh 'VS' class 3-cyl. superheated 4-4-0 No. 202 'Boyne' is ready to depart from Amiens Street Station in Dublin with an express for Belfast in May 1957. One of a five-strong class, she had been built by Beyer Peacock in 1948 and was withdrawn in 1963. The five locomotives in this class were 'simple' versions of George Glover's earlier 'V' class that had been introduced in 1932. The main external difference is the smoke deflectors fitted to the 'VS' series.
