CIE 665 1954-06-18 Bray Station
At Bray Station, Co.Wicklow in June 1954 we see an ex-Midland & Great Western Rly. Martin Acock 'K' class 2-4-0 as CIE No. 665. The locomotive was built in 1897 at Broadstone Works, Dublin and was transferred to Great Southern Railway stock in 1925 and then, to CIE from 1945. She was withdrawn in 1959.
The second and third coaches in this consist are also of interest. They were formerly Drum Battery Coaches. These coaches are either, sets B or C. The Drum Trains ceased Battery operation on July 9th, 1949. These coaches, minus their batteries then became locomotive hauled stock. Upon the introduction of AEC/ Park Royal Railcars, (Class2600) Drum sets, C and D were - Through Wired - and used in Railcar Sets on Dublin Suburban lines.
