With five months left in B.R.ownership 7029 was still being used mainly on freght duties within the Gloucester area at the date of my photograph, namely 5th. August, 1965.

As the last "Castle" still in service at this period of time 7029 was also being called upon to work steam specials, hence the painted bufferbeam number, but her condition was far from first class in this, her final year before being privately purchased for preservation following an overhaul at Tyseley the following year.
