GWR BG Swallow
Portion of a glass half plate negative taken in 1891 at Westbourne Park, London by R Samson of the Islington Photographic Studio.
The fireman on the footplate will have had to remain very still for up to 20 seconds during the exposure time required for this photograph. This is an extremely fine grain negative taken using a camera with a top quality lens. A remarkable example of Victorian photography.
