3186 1924 Edge Hill -

One of a class of 188 ‘Special’ 0-6-0STs, Nos 7270-7457. All except two had round topped saddletanks. Two, Nos 7334 (ex-3021) ‘Liverpool’ and 7335 (ex-3186) ‘Euston’ had square topped saddletanks required originally to house condensing apparatus for working through Wapping Tunnel, Liverpool. After about 1895 the condensing apparatus was removed and the engines given new work taking boat trains between Riverside and Edge Hill. At this time they received their names. Both entered LMS service and allocated 7334/5 but only ‘Liverpool’ received its LMS number (later 27334). ‘Euston was withdawn still carrying its LNWR number.
