On 19th September 1959 an unadvertised stop occurs at Holytown for the driver of leading locomotive, restored ex-CR 4-2-2 No 123 to carry out an inspection. The train is heading for Kelvin Hall from Edinburgh Princes St, carrying passengers to the Scottish Industries Fair. The crew of ex-GNoSR No 49 ‘Gordon Highlander’ do not appear too concerned, and the train reached its destination without mishap.
