On 10th April 1965, the RCTS ran the North Eastern No 2 Rail Tour from Leeds to Newcastle and back behind privately owned K4 No 3442 ‘The Great Marquess’. Some unusual lines traversed included the Beck branch (to Haverton Hill) and the S&D flat crossing north of Darlington. 9F No 92097 was in charge for the Newcastle-Consett-
Darlington section. The K4 completed the trip from Darlington back to Leeds (arrival 10.40pm). Total distance covered for the day was almost 300 miles. In this photo the K4 is entering Stockton station at 11.25am on the way to Haverton Hill.
