4472 1964-04-18 Marylebone

The Great Central Rail Tour arranged by SLS/MLS on 18th April 1964 started at Manchester Central behind No 4472, to Woodhead where E26001 assisted the A3 to Hazelhead Bridge. From here, No 4472 carried on unassisted to Marylebone via Sheffield, Nottingham and Rugby. Following a 3 hour stop in London, the train returned to Manchester (Piccadilly) via Penistone. Steam hauled to Penistone and electric (E26052) for the last lap into Picadilly.
