Ex-Southern Railway Maunsell 'V' or 'Schools' class No. 30928 'Stowe'. Built at Eastleigh in June 1934 as SR No. 928 and withdrawn in November 1962.

Cheriton on the outskirts of Folkestone is the location for this July 1955 photograph of 'Stowe'. The original, smaller chimney is, in my view, much more elegant than the large Lemaitre version fitted (ineffectively) to half of the 40 strong class.
