30587 1961-04-24 Wenford Bridge
Beattie well tank No 30587 climbs through the woods between Boscarne Junction and Wenford Bridge with china clay empties on April 24, 1961.
Peter Kerslake says "A delightful Cornish setting deep in china clay country as one of the three Beattie Well Tanks heads a rake of empties up to the drying pens ready for another load destined for Fowey docks. The maximum load permitted was twenty full wagons and 30587 looks to have an impressive rake this day. The trio served the Cornish china clay industry from 1893 until 1962 and 30587 in company with 30585 both survived into preservation although 30586 was not so lucky."
