1364 1960 Swindon
After a lifetime spent at Plymouth 's Laira Motive Power Depot little 1364 awaits its fate at the hands of the cutters and their torches here at Swindon Works following withdrawal .
One of three of the class allocated to Laira , 1364 and her two sisters 1361 and 1363 , would have spent much of their time there working in the former Great Western Railway docks at Millbay , marshalling empty passenger stock from and for the " Ocean Mail " boat trains running non stop between Plymouth and Paddington , as well as handling freight wagons in the docks in addition to working freights around the quay sides of Plymouth , and in the Devonport area.
In the early years the engines working the Millbay rosters would be housed overnight in a shed at Belmont Sidings , close to the then principal passenger station at Millbay , but in later years they returned back to Laira shed at the end of their working day.
