One of the handfull of Britannias drafted to Oxley Depot in June1965 in order to help out with that Summer's workings between the North Midlands and the Westcountry, and running on Saturdays to and from Bristol, 70045 did not return back home to Holyhead but was sent, in company with seven others of its class, to Banbury, that Depot by then being a Midland Region Depot. The eight Britannias spent just four months at Banbury, working express passenger duties between Marylebone and Nottingham as well as local services, and extended Banbury Depot's life until it finally closed in October of the following year. Reports indicate that 70045 may well have worked the last scheduled passenger duty on the network, running from Carlisle to Skipton on a local passenge duty on the 30th. December, 1967, returning back home to Carlisle Kingmoor on a coal train and being withdrawn the following day .
