Peter Kerslake, the photographer comments "The last of my three shots of 71000 at Crewe on Thursday 1st June and the two scholboys are still there, and so is The Duke, still with its Express Passenger lamps in position. The fireman is now also visible at the cab window, and our Royal Naval friend is also still visible as is the Traction Inspector as attempts to uncouple would seem to be continuing! 46236 City of Liverpool, which worked the train forward, has now moved forward with the through coach from Plymouth to Glasgow and is waiting out of shot to back down once 71000 has cleared the platform."
