BR Riddles 'Standard Duke' class 4-6-2 No. 71000 'Duke of Gloucester' Built at Crewe in May 1954, withdrawn in March 1961 and preserved.
Prototype English Electric 'DP1' class Co-Co Diesel 'Deltic'. Built at Preston by English Electric, Dick, Kerr & Co. in 1955, withdrawn in March 1961 and preserved.

A busy scene at the old Euston Station on a very gloomy February day in 1957. 'Deltic' is ready to depart with the 13:35 down express for Perth while 'Duke of Gloucester' has the 13:30 'right away' with the 'Mid-Day Scot' for Glasgow, much to the excitement of the adjacent schoolboys.
